Summary: make errors curl-7.12.3 on FreeBSD

Initial Comment:
Had similar errors as described in #556869 (I submitted
this same comment there, but I wasn't sure if it would
prompt a re-open) building out-of-the-box curl-7.12.3
on FreeBSD 4.8 and 4.9 using "./configure
--with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl --disable-ipv6 && make":

...
 gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I../include -I../lib -I../lib
-I/usr/local/ssl/include/openssl
-I/usr/local/ssl/include -g -O2 -c select.c -Wp

Did not have these errors with curl-7.12.3 on RedHat 9
or Solaris 9

HOWEVER:

--disable-ipv6 was required to build on Fedora
(2.6.9-1.667smp)
