curl/lib/parsedate.c was just committed to CVS.

If you add this to the build and remove getdate.c, you'll build libcurl with
the replacement code.

I just ran all existing test cases fine with the new code.

As you'll see, the new code is very small, easy to follow and will remove the
yacc/bison pains from libcurl forever! ;-)
