Here it says you need /usr/local/lib, but you don't have that in your
command line.

That wasn't the complete command line, was it? I'm missing ftpupload.c
in it.

Anyway, try this:

cc -o ftpupload ftpupload.c -L/curl/lib -L/usr/local/lib -lnsl -lcurl
-lz -lsocket -I/curl/include
