This isn't a libcurl problem. The site you are interacting with checks the
user-agent field and acts differently. As you don't pass any user-agent string
at all, it seems to only return a 200 for you.

I made it work by adding:

    curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "Mozilla/4");
