I still have it flagged for "taking care of" in my inbox, I mean to apply it.

The reasons I didn't include it already are:

 - I haven't yet decided if I want to add yet another function to libcurl's
   API that is not at all transfer-related but only helps portability. Perhaps
   we should just duplicate the code and have both the lib and the app find
   homedirs on their own. Do you (or anyone else) have anything to add to this
   concern?

 - I've been wanting to release this for quite some time now, but I wanted to
   do it from my home box for various reasons, and today I found myself with
   some time on my hands in front of it and I decided to just go for it.
   There are still some outstanding issues, but I'll try to address them in
   the next release instead.
