FTP list doesn't show the files starting with dot

I simply connect to the FTP site with
curl_easy_setopt(myconnection, CURLOPT_URL, "ftp://myhost/temp/"), then
read the output. None of the files that starts with a dot (such as
.foobar) showed up in the output buffer.
Is it a bug?
