As Daniel said, the sample isn't complete, so it is hard to make a
diagnosis.
The first idea that come to mind is that the '(nil)' string, at least on
Windows, is generated when you do something like:
sprintf(foo, "%s", 0);
Perhaps you should investigate in this direction.
