There doesn't seem to be anyone still taking care of pycurl these days and it
would be good to at least merge patches and collect examples from contributors
etc methinks.

Although I know there's a github mirror here:

         https://github.com/blackstonetech/pycurl

As libcurl maintainer, I know that pycurl still has a rather large user base
and is in need of someone nursing it and giving it some love. I'm not a python
guy myself and I'm already maintaining several open source so I can't take on
this.
