Presumably, this is a conflict between the @ delimiter in the email address
and that of the URL. To avoid this, I would suggest trying:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "ftp://ftp.mydomain.net/");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "myname_at_mydomain.com:mypassword");
