No, we're using prefork - I wasn't aware that php5 worked with threaded
apache2.

I'm not sure what extra information I can give, every time I do the
curl_exec statement where it's connecting to a server with SSL I get a
segfault. If I remove the https from it, I can connect fine.

In the past I've had similar problems, which have been fixed by using
the CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST / PEER options, but that was a Gentoo system
(apache/php/curl installed using emerge).
