If it has been installed with `yum` (which if probable), then remove it with
yum remove curl
But you should also be able do downgrade it with `yum`:
yum downgrade curl-version
See `man curl`:
...
downgrade
Will try and downgrade a package from the version currently installed to the previously highest version (or the specified version).
