I remember that we had some problems like that when we initially switched the
libcurl internals to "always using multi" and that we've subsequently worked
on fixing them and I can't recall anyone reporting any such problems in recent
versions.

commit 0feeab7802dd2a seems likely, but you also want commit d529f3882b9bca.
