I am a mac user, running Mac OS X 10.6.8

I used to have no problem using curl until the other day and now every
invocation of curl will return curl: (7) couldn't connect to host, unless I
precede it with sudo, in which case it WILL work.

So:

 curl "http://www.google.com" will return curl: (7) couldn't connect but

But

sudo curl "http://www.google.com" will return the page

This suggests there is a problem with my curl user profile.
Can you please tell me where the curl user profile lives on the mac? Would
deleting it cause it to be re-generated?
