I don't know. Personally I'm up to my ears in curl related work, and I never
ever use a socks proxy myself so I'm not likely to fix this by scratching my
own itch.

I guess one way to help is to setup and provide an environment that a
developer can use to test an implementation against. You could try to find
someone or encourage someone to do the work. One way to motivate someone could
be to pay a developer to do the job.

Oh, and by following our mailing list etiquette (like no top-posting) you'll
show that you respect our rules and that's a good start too...
