Can you please tell us why you think this is a curl bug in the first place?
Clearly curl sends a fine request to a server, but the modified Host: header
seems to trick the other end and it responds to say that the request is bad.

7.17.1 is rather ancient by now and I haven't actually bothered to compare
exactly how that behaves nor have I scanned the changelog for this since I
think it is irrelevant. I don't see any error in the current behavior!
