I am more than happy to help if I could. The problem is that I am not familiar
with C development. Unfortunately I know only the basics. If there is any other
way I can help you to fix the bug please tell me.

I guess it should not be too difficult to find the error. Since curl uses HTTP
type proxies successfully. As I know the only one difference between HTTP and
SOCKS type proxies is different protocol (SOCKS traffic is encoded, it is more
secure and it could be used not only for HTTP requests).
