That's unfortunate but not the right way to fix problems, IMHO. It wouldn't
be too difficult to attach a debugger as soon as it "hangs" or to use
a system call trace tool. curl is not such a monster as Mozilla so it
should be rather easy to find the cause of those hangs and fix it.
