How to specify the proxy protocol (Socks .vs. http) from command line?

Hi,
I use this for HTTP proxies:-
curl -x 192.168.0.15:1080 ...
But what do I use instead if it's a SOCKS (not HTTP) proxy, or what
other options do I need to pass or set to tell it to talk "socks" and
not "http" to accomplish my request?
I read that 7.11.1 has socks support and "some bugs fixed", so I
grabbed it, but I can't see any mention of SOCKS in its help
anyplace...
