Sorry, but that is completely false. curl supports several other protocols,
including FTP, HTTPS, FTPS, TELNET, LDAP, DICT, FILE and GOPHER.

But to speak these non-HTTP protocols over a HTTP proxy (as it seemed the
original posted wanted) it requires that the proxy allows such things.
