RE: Static compilation

Nope I am trying on RedHat 9. I have access to the early releases. I found
out how to hack the makefile to do a truly static compile today I will test
this out and let you know.

Yes, please show us details. Are you sure you're really using the non-shared
version if it gives you this message?
Uh, it will probably still build with some libraries shared, but libcurl
should at least be used staticly.

I assume you're talking about Redhat 8.0 here? If so, you're not using curl
7.10.3 are you?
It sounds as if you've been bitten by Redhat's
yes-we-install-flawed-glibc-versions bug.
