Summary: multi interface crashes with file: URLs

Initial Comment:
Using curl 7.10.2 on redhat linux 7.2 and/or windows
XP/2000, I get crashes whenever I try to use a file: URL
with the multi interface.

I've attached a trivial little program that demonstrates the
problem.
