These simple steps should do it:
$ cd curl-7.10.2
$ curl -o verbose.patch
"http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/curl/curl/lib/url.c.diff?r1=1.245&r2=1.246&diff_format=u"
$ patch -p2 < verbose.patch
$ make
