Summary: ftp download hangs after ~1hour

Initial Comment:
On a Red Hat Linux 7.2 machine:

curl 7.10.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.10.1
OpenSSL/0.9.6b zlib/1.1.3

Also see with curl 7.95 and 7.98.

If we download a large file which will take over 1 hour,
then curl hangs indefinitely. Seems to occur nearly
always after 1hour 5 mins +- 10 mins.

The following command was used:

curl -u anonymous:foo_at_bar
ftp://ftp.3com.com/pub/network_management/3ComHPIK
Win1_1.exe -o test
