Hey there -- what's happened is you've installed the "devel" (headers, libraries for compiling, etc) package instead of the normal binary one with the program. Do a "rpm -e curl-devel" to get rid of that, then download the newest 7.9.5 released rpm:

http://ftp.falsehope.com/home/tengel/curl/curl-ssl-7.9.5-1.i386.rpm

and try a "rpm -Uhv curl-ssl-7.9.5-1.i386.rpm" to get it installed.
