Try this patch:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/curl/curl/lib/hostip.c.diff?r1=1.48&r2=1.49
This fixes a problem on IPv4-Linux machines. If you don't have one of those,
then this patch won't fix your particular problem...!
