That was all I needed. Ok, so I had to drag the code over to a Linux box
without IPv6 enabled and I could repeat the problem there. (My IPv4-only
solaris machine does not show this behavior.)

The attached patch seemed to fix the problem in my end. I'm eager to here
what it does for you. I'm especially interested in if this works on win32, or
if we need to hide it from them... :-)
