Where is openssl installed? How did you run curl's configure? What did
configure say about the SSL related libs in its output (just before that
error message)? Are you using gcc?

I've personally compiled and built curl 7.7.3 on solaris 2.7 with OpenSSL
0.9.6a, so I don't think this is a bug...
